Texas and Louisiana are well represented at the Disney Dreamers Academy program.

“I feel overjoyed,” says Lenna Reed, a Disney Dreamer from Houston.  “This is something that comes once in a lifetime. I’m so humbled and grateful to be here.”

Reed who attends KIPP Sunnyside High School is one of five Houston-area students participating in Disney Dreamers.  They include Matthew Moody, Klein Collins High School; Sira Ntagha, St. John’s  School; Darin McMahon, Logos Prep Academy, and Chelsey Caldwell, Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu.

Another participant,  Alexandra Elias, is from Ozen High School in Beaumont.

Louisiana students include Miguel Black from Northlake Christian School in Covington, and Joseph Stevenson from Baker High School in Baton Rouge.

The Disney Dreamers program is currently underway at Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.  Sponsored by Comedian and TV Personality Steve Harvey and Disney World, the program selects 100 high school students from across the country and treats them to an all-expense paid trip to Disney to help inspire their dreams. During the four-day event, successful leaders from across the country share their stories and tips on how to be successful. The students also participate in career workshops.

Speakers include Journalist Stephen A. Smith, Singer Yolanda Adams, E! News Host Terrence J,  Motivational Speaker Jonathan Sprinkles,  Educator Steve Perry, and NBA Legend and Businessman Magic Johnson, among others.

The program ends with a graduation ceremony on Sunday, March 9.
