The city of Houston is expecting thousands of visitors this week for the big game.
The Southwestern Athletic Conference or SWAC kicked off their annual basketball tournament Tuesday.
Ten of the conference’s best teams will compete in the college hooping competition through the weekend.
SWAC Commissioner Duer Sharp says, “we started here in 1920 the SWAC was started here in the city of Houston so for us that was the attraction.”
Last year the SWAC attracted more than 30,000 people to Houston for their football championship.
Organizers say that translated into a $41 million impact.
The SWAC contest runs through Saturday at the Toyota Center.
