Press Release: Galveston County Criminal District Attorney Jack Roady announced today that Christopher Vernon Murphy has been sentenced to four years in prison with $75,119.00 ordered in restitution for third degree felony theft, pursuant to a plea agreement. Murphy pled guilty to the theft charge on March 24th, 2014 in the 212th District Court and was sentenced to four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Murphy was indicted in 2013 for stealing from forty listed victims. The theft was the product of a continuing course of conduct that lasted from the 1st day of May, 2010 through the 30th day of March, 2012.

During the time of the theft Christopher Murphy operated an insurance agency in the South Shore area of League City.

The name of the agency was “Integrity Insurance Agency.”

The Texas Department of Insurance spearheaded the investigation with the assistance of the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office’s Major Fraud division.

Major Fraud Prosecutor Robert Buss represented the State of Texas and Defense Attorney Greg Russell represented Christopher Murphy.
