ADDRESSING THE RUMORS OF A LYNCHING IN HOUSTON!

Typically, news organizations don’t report on suicides because of the pain it causes family members and friends in the community.

However, I am making a partial exception to that rule today because of the tremendous amount of public interest one case is getting on social media.

I have received several messages from people alerting me to an incident where they believe an African American male was lynched in Houston.

The man’s body was seen hanging from a tree on Hollister (yesterday) Monday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s office confirms the scene but Deputy Thomas Gilliland says it was not a lynching.

He says the 26 year old male took his own life.

Gilliland says his investigators talked with friends and family of the man and he’s certain it was a suicide because of the circumstances.

So, thanks to all of you who tipped me off but this was not a hate crime but a very sad incident and tragedy for a local family.
