Beginning at 7:30 a.m. TOMORROW (Tuesday, June 17), officers with the Houston Police Department Bicycle Relay Team will once again hit the road to raise money to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The 34 officers will be available for media interviews at Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Following their media availability, the officers, together with leukemia survivors and family members of survivors, will begin their seven-day trek to Tacoma, Washington. Each officer will wear a special “dog tag” bearing the name of the patient or survivor who inspired them to ride in this year’s 2,900 mile relay.
This is the 33rd year HPD officers have donated their time to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In the past 32 years, officers have ridden almost 73,000 miles and contributed more than $5.4 million dollars to help improve the quality of life for those battling blood-related cancers.
