HPD Homicide Division Sergeant E. Cisneros reported:

The mother of 8-month-old Genesis Hailey stopped at a gas station at the above address.  Leaving her vehicle running and her sleeping infant in the back seat of the car, she attempted to enter the convenience store.  As she walked inside, she observed the suspect get into her green Saturn Ion and drive away, with her daughter inside.

The mother contacted police, who issued an Amber Alert for the abducted child.  About 3:30 a.m. the vehicle was found at 1400 Greens Parkway without Genesis Hailey inside.  About 7:45 a.m., a passerby found little Genesis, still strapped in her car seat, in a field at 11300 Ella Boulevard, near where the vehicle was located.  She was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital for evaluation, found to be in good condition, and released to her mother.
