It was a trend that began in San Francisco almost ten years ago and now Houston is jumping on board by allowing parklets.
The store, which has authorization from the city, will take over several parking meters and create a mini park of sorts.
It’s an effort to create more green space in Houston.
Jeff Kaplan at New Living says he’s been working all weekend to create the parklet.
Kaplan says he has a six month permit and he hopes to see more pop up all over the city.
He says the parklet also increases the walk ability and vanity of Houston.
