Some Houston area community activists are joining forces to try and save Riverside General Hospital.
The medical facility has been the subject of controversy since then CEO Earnest Gibson was arrested by the FBI for Medicare fraud back in 2012.
Now, activists like Quanell X say the historic African American hospital that was dedicated in 1926 shouldn’t be destroyed because of bad apples.
Riverside lost federal funding after the launch of the federal probe…it led to the arrest of 7 hospital employees and executives.
X plans a march outside the facility Wednesday at noon to demand the federal government restore federal funding.
He says if Riverside doesn’t get federal dollars in six weeks the facility will close.
It was earlier this year when administrators at the hospital laid off most of the employees.
