DAVID FELDMAN GOES BEFORE HOUSTON CITY COUNCIL WITH CONFLICTING INFORMATION!

Does he not know or is he trying to mislead the Council? Houston City Attorney Dave Feldman went before a committee of the Houston City Council Friday and said there have been some cases of people filing complaints under the City’s new Equal Rights Ordinance. Then Feldman said there were some calls but his office stopped taking complaints once the ordinance was challenged. Which is it? His information or lack thereof is a direct contradiction to what Mayor Annise Parker’s staff has reported to the media for the last four weeks. A spokesperson for the Mayor and a representative from Feldman’s office both said there were no complaints filed as seen below in the email from the City Attorney’s Office:

FYI.

None have been filed according to the OIG.

Angela Dinwiddie

Executive Assistant to David M. Feldman

City Attorney, City of Houston

When questioned about the inconsistency Feldman says he still believes some complaints had been filed and the US Justice Department referred a complaint to his office.

The Equal Rights Ordinance was put into place to address issues of discrimination based on race, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other qualifying cases in the city of Houston.
