Two suspects charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon are in custody thanks to a quick thinking Harris County Precinct 6 deputy. On Monday, August 11, 2014 at approximately 12:08 a.m., Deputy Jennifer Marenco observed a vehicle run a red light at 2400 Wayside. While conducting what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop, Deputy Marenco noticed a steel bullet casing on the floorboard of the vehicle.
With the safety of herself and the public in mind Deputy Marenco placed the suspects Eliseo Maldonado, 19 and Juan Carlos Sandoval 19, in the back of her patrol car and conducted an in depth search of the vehicle. During her search she discovered a 380 high point semiautomatic pistol, a purse and a female’s identification card. The Deputy made contact with the Houston Police Department to inquire if any reports had been placed that matched the identification card.
HPD was able to confirm that the purse and the identification card belonged to a female that had been the victim of an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon just one hour before by two suspects who matched the description of the men in custody.
HPD arrived at the scene with the victim who was able to confirm that Maldonado and Sandoval were the suspects who had robbed her at gunpoint. The suspects were then taken into custody by HPD and charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
