The City of Houston, through its TweetMyJobs Houston! initiative is pleased to announce the first ever Hire Me Now Job Fair, sponsored by AT&T. The job fair, which is expected to attract several local businesses that are currently hiring, will take place September 25th from 9:00am – 2:00pm at the BBVA Compass Stadium.
“We are very excited to bring the many local businesses with thousands of Houston-area job seekers who are ready to embark upon a new career,” said Carlecia D. Wright, Director of the Office of Business Opportunity. “The City of Houston has been impressed with the results of Tweet My Jobs, Houston! and the impact on area employers and job seekers. The Hire Me Now Job Fair is one more resource we wish to provide to Houstonians to support the City’s priority of job creation.”
The Hire Me Now Job Fair will kick off with a press conference featuring Mayor Annise D. Parker and Director Wright, who will highlight the impact TweetMyJobs Houston! has made on the city since its launch in April 2013.
The event will also include workshops on resume creation and interview tips. Each workshop will allow job seekers to upload their resume and begin searching for potential jobs on the spot. Similarly, local businesses can also use the training sessions to register on the TweetMyJobs Houston! platform and upload job opportunities immediately. In addition, there will be workshops throughout the event for small business owners to educate them on how to best utilize the platform.
As the lead sponsor of the Hire Me Now Job Fair, AT&T will also host a booth at the event where they will be connecting with job seekers. “Although Houston enjoys a relatively low unemployment level, there is still work to be done,” said Alice L. Aanstoos, Regional Vice President, AT&T. “AT&T is proud to sponsor the Hire Me Now Job Fair because we believe it will give more people the opportunity to find not only a job, but a rewarding career.”
Businesses must register to participate by September 17th at www.HoustonHireMeNow.com. There is a $150 fee for vendors. Space is limited so early registration is recommended.
