MORE TIME TO MOUNT A DEFENSE FOR A FORMER CONROE ISD CONTRACT SCHOOL EMPLOYEE!

One has been found guilty while another gets at least an extra month to mount his defense.

That’s the latest in the criminal case involving two former Conroe Independent School District employees.

They were intially arrested in 2013 for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

According to court records and criminal indictments former Conroe ISD police officer Christopher Sutton and Conroe ISD contract sports referee Brian Ortiz both had sex with a male student who attended Caney Creek High School.

Ortiz was set to go to trial this week but the case was reset for November.

In the meantime, Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Phil Grant says Sutton was found guilty in his case earlier this month.

Sutton has also filed the paperwork to appeal his conviction.

Investigators say the high school student was 18 at the time of the sexual encounter and they all met using an online dating web app.
