At 6 p.m. TODAY (Thursday, September 25), members of the Houston Police Department’s DWI Task Force will teach 30 Citizens’ Police Academy members about the dangers of driving while intoxicated and how the department conducts DWI investigations.

Media wishing to attend this evening’s class should meet in the parking lot at 33 Artesian, behind the Central Police Station at 61 Riesner.

The citizens are in the third week of a 10-week course in which they learn how HPD officers handle investigations, patrols and dangerous situations.

The Citizens’ Police Academy, in its 25th year (organized in 1989), is designed to give citizens from all walks of life a working knowledge of how HPD operates, and stresses the importance of their involvement in preventing and fighting crime in their neighborhoods.
