District Attorney Brett Ligon has selected two prosecutors in his office to fill the roles of Bureau Chiefs, effective October 1, 2014.  Mr. Kelly Blackburn will become the Trial Bureau Chief and Mr. Tyler Dunman will become the Specialized Prosecution Bureau Chief. 

Currently, both Blackburn and Dunman are Chief Prosecutors in the office.   

The Trial Bureau is comprised of four felony District Courts, three misdemeanor County Courts at Law, and five Justice of the Peace Courts. 

There are roughly 25 prosecutors assigned to this division, along with 20 investigators and support staff.  

The Trial Bureau handles the prosecution of all felony and misdemeanor cases, ranging from Capital Murder to traffic citations. 

Kelly Blackburn is currently assigned as the Chief Public Integrity Prosecutor and he has been at the District Attorney’s since 2010. 

Prior to joining this office, Blackburn spent nine years as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas, and two years as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Texas.    The Specialized Prosecution Bureau is comprised of five separate divisions, including the Family Protection Division (Child Abuse & Family Violence), the Civil Litigation & White Collar Crime Division, the Internet Crimes Against Children Division, the Major Offenders Division, and the Vehicular Crimes Division. 

There are roughly 15 prosecutors assigned to this division, along with 8 investigators and support staff. 

The Specialized Prosecution Bureau handles the prosecution of all types of offenses, including Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, Possession of Child Pornography, White Collar theft and fraud cases, bank robberies, major narcotics trafficking, and Intoxication Manslaughters. 

Tyler Dunman is currently assigned as the Chief Prosecutor in the 359th District Court and he has worked at the District Attorney’s Office since 2007.  Prior to joining the office, Dunman served as a Briefing Attorney on the 14th Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas.
