On Tuesday, December 3, 2014, Judge John Grady of County Court at Law #1 found Audon Martinez guilty of Possession of an Illegal Fishing Device and sentenced him to 70 days in the Galveston County Jail.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Wardens Bobby Kana and Ray Canales reported that on November 13, 2014, Martinez and co-defendant Richard Mancuso were seen removing fish from illegal gill nets and loading the fish into a truck. Wardens reported that they subsequently stopped the truck and found 121 fish inside. Both men were charged with Possession of an Illegal Fishing Device. The Wardens reported that another 127 fish were found in the gill nets when they were removed the following day. The number of fish recovered far exceeded the amount permitted under the law.

Approximately two weeks after the incident, Martinez pled to the charged offense and was sentenced to 70 days in the Galveston County Jail. Mancuso’s case is still pending.

The District Attorney’s office will continue to aggressively prosecute cases of this nature. Assistant District Attorney Jason Howell stated, “Illegal fishing is a far-reaching crime that impacts our area from both conservation and economic standpoints because fewer fish also means fewer fishermen visiting the coast. The limit for flounder during this time of year is down to two fish. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office is serious about stopping illegal fishing and we will continue working closely with Texas Parks and Wildlife to protect our natural resources for future generations.”

My name is Stacey Alexander and i’m a former Federal Employee of TSA/HOMELAND SECURITY. I was injured on the job in 08/2003 since my date of injury I have yet to be compensated by the Dept. of Labor. I had Congressman Gene Greens office to help me obtain a favorable decision. “My claim examiner Barbara Russell stated “we have all that we need to get Mrs. Alexander paid and on our rolls”. Mrs. B. Russell was waiting on a second opinion and that was favorable from their doctor whom deemed me as totally disabled mentally since 2003. As to this day, I have yet to receive any of my compensation. I have proof that this claim was won in 2011. I even went so far as to print out the decision that says”ENTITLED” FROM 10/2003-20011. DOL has continued to sit by and refuse to compensate me all this time. when I started this journey my kids were 9yrs of age and 5. Now they are soon to be 20yrs of age and 16yrs. How could a company sit by and let their former employee suffer this type of fate. I feel like i’m about to lose the little sanity that i do have left. I also have lifetime medical, they owe me and my family and have sat back all this time and done nothing. If I need surgery all that is paid for and covered and my medical bills with the government is through the roof….(All you have to do is investigate all of this and it all true and so very inhumane). Please, help me and my kids get the justice that’s due us. I can be reached at 832-231-2997 or 281-219-7073. 4726 justin street houston, texas 77093. Need help asap, i’m now after all this time are living in deplorable conditions. I was also told if I had an Attorney I wouldn’t have any of these problems but no attorney is willing to touch it. Owed 75% of my salary for the last almost 11yrs in august of this year.
