The new multimillion dollar computer system at Municipal court goes hot Thursday. It’s been a project in the works since 2006 that has failed several times. After spending more than $40 million dollars on the project I’m sure city officials are praying it works this time.

The City of Houston Municipal Courts Department is transitioning to a new court case management system. During this temporary transition period, which begins Saturday, March 21, 2015 and ends April 2, 2015, certain court services will be unavailable.  However, the following services will continue to be available at most Municipal Court locations:


Jail Bonding
Payments (including Parking Citations, Deferred Compliance, etc.)
PLEASE NOTE: KIOSKS, IVR and Online Payment System will be unavailable beginning at noon, March 20, 2015. Other options to make payments are to mail your payment to PO Box 4996, Houston, TX 77210
Completion Documents (Driving Safety Course (DSC), Deferred Disposition)
Motions For New Trials
Parking Adjudication Hearings
DPS Driver Record Printing Services
Notary Services
Wedding Services

Reduced Services FAQ’s

Why is this happening?

Municipal Courts is implementing a new court case management system. This temporary reduction in certain services is necessary during the transition.

What if I have a court date during this timeframe?

You should call 3-1-1 to confirm that your case has been reset prior to your arrival.

Will I be able to post a bond to get out of jail?

Yes, jail bonding services will remain available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

What should I do if I have paperwork that is due to be turned in?

You may mail it to P.O. Box 4996, Houston, Texas 77210, or you may bring it in person to 1400 Lubbock, Houston, Texas 77002.

Can I still make payments?

Yes. Payments will be accepted by mail and at the following Municipal Courts locations:

·        Herbert W. Gee Municipal Courthouse, 1400 Lubbock, 77002
·        Southeast Command Station, 8300 Mykawa, 77048
·        Westside Command Station, 3203 South Dairy Ashford, 77082
·        North Command Station, 9455 West Montgomery, 77088

Will the Annex Courts at Kingwood and Clear Lake be open during this period?

The Kingwood Annex Court, which is located at 3915 Rustic Woods, Kingwood, Texas 77339 and is open weekly on Wednesday, will be closed only Wednesday, March 25, 2015.  The Clear Lake Annex Court, which is located in the Clear Lake Sub-Station, 2855 Bay Area Blvd., Houston, Texas 77058, will be closed only Thursday, March 26, 2015.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, money orders, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Will there be jury service during this period?

There will be no jury service from March 23, 2015 through April 1, 2015.  If you received a juror summons during this time period, please call 713.247.5464.

When will this period end?

The transition period will end when the new system goes live, April 2, 2015.
