The Factor is now hearing Krispy Kreme won’t likely open in Houston til the early summer.

A former Krispy Kreme exec says because of construction issues the doors at the donut shop on Highway 6 won’t likely open until June.

This is the third date change for the business that hasn’t had a presence in Houston since 2006.

  1. Maria Galan April 21, 2015 10:26 am

    I’m interested in a franchise !

  2. Kathy Keehner May 5, 2015 7:16 am

I appreciate the update. I live about two blocks away and have not seen any progress on the building in months! I just wish Houston would move the permits through the system. If that’s not the problem, come on Krispy Cream!

  3. dwadwa May 8, 2015 12:42 pm

  4. Krispy Kreme Burger May 9, 2015 11:09 am

What? Another delaid opening? Only Houston permits and restrictions can cluster up things. Hey Krispy Kreme, Just open up in an unincorporated location where Houston cant fee, permit and tax you to death!

  5. Diane davis June 1, 2015 5:45 am

Please, please, please, hurry and open up this store. It’s not like I really needs these donut but they are so delicious. I use to buy them a lot when I lived in California. People get it together and open those foors

  6. Susan Stoker June 3, 2015 11:40 am

I have been completely bummed out since Krispy Kreme left Houston. I was so excited to hear they are reopening. I live in Humble TX and will drive anywhere in Houston to get a Krispy Kreme. I do wish they would consider opening one in the Humble/Summerwood/Kingwood area or even the Woodlands. We have many donut hungry people in this area.

  7. Donna Jaquier June 4, 2015 12:55 pm

When are you going to open the Krispy Kreme on Hwy 6 south in Houston, Texas?. I love those donuts.

  8. Liz Flores June 5, 2015 12:19 pm

Just got off the phone with corporate and there is still not a set date do to Houston permitting issues.

    • Liz Flores June 5, 2015 12:20 pm

      I meant due…

  9. Kurt V Rich June 11, 2015 6:53 pm

The delays have turned from amusing to really annoying. Up until recently you couldn’t blame Houston’s weather for the delays. Permit problems, they say. How many permits do you need? Blame it on the city for a backlog in issuing permits, we are told. Austin has Krispy Kreme, so does Dallas and Jokelahoma City. For months KK’s website has been posting first one, then a second Houston site opening as imminent. This is a major embarrassment. When Krispy Kreme uncermoniously folded their tent and left Houston about a decade ago, we were told they’d return in three years. Three years morphed into…well, you know the story. A announced February 2015 opening changed nto March, then April and now they say it’s June. Supposedly there’s second KK almost ready to open somewhere on South Main near the 610 Loop. Yesterday I drove through that area and could find nothing remotely resembling a nearly completed KK building. As a kid I grew up with KK. Every time I return home I make at least one pilgrimag to a KK. I have nothing against Shipley’s and Chrinicle writer Ken Hoffman’s Dippy Donuts. KK hands down is infinitely better. I’m just getting tired of the incessant delays and excuses. Hear me, Sun Holdings???

  10. Robin R Burke June 14, 2015 9:35 am

I am patiently waiting for KK to return to Houston. S. Main @ 610 will be an excellent location. Morning rush hour business will be unprecedented. I am patiently, patiently waiting. Welcome back my dear KK.

  11. Terri June 16, 2015 1:27 pm

So, would Shipley’s have anything to do with all the delays…I am new to Tx, but have clearly seen the devotion to Shipley’s, and yes, there are DD’s all over, but they do not even compete in KK’s and Shipley’s league…

    • mok July 4, 2015 12:21 pm

DD is far better quality than S#!tey’s Dognuts.
KK blows them both out of the water, why it ever whent away is still a mystery to me.

  12. Jonathan June 18, 2015 1:22 pm

This makes absolutely no sense for a nation-wide chain to take this long to open. KK was suppose to open way back in Feb. 2015. I wonder if Shipley’s has something to do with this conspiracy to keep Krispy Kreme doors from opening.

  13. Rob June 19, 2015 7:52 am

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel. Work seems to be ongoing inside and out. Shouldn’t be too much longer.

    • Kurt V Rich June 19, 2015 8:29 am

Nearly ready? What location are you deliberately NOT mentioning in your brief cryptic comment? There’s the looong delayed site on Hwy 6 around Copperfield Village in NW Houston, the mysterious S Main @ 610 Loop site I could never find, another rumoured site on Westheimer near the Galleria, or a mysterious sites in Texas City and Pasadena. KK , or Sun Holdings LLC, boasted a few years ago they would have 20, yes twenty, KK sites in Metro Houston by the end of 2016. I’ll bet my remaining $5M in Enron stock that Kk//Sun Holdings won’t even come close to 5-6 sites. Before the end of next year. As I mentioned above, this is embarrassing. I just hope that there’s not another legal dispute where KK again folds its tent, leaving Houston for a second time.

  14. Rob June 19, 2015 9:32 am

I was referring to the Hwy 6 location.

  15. Susan Stoker June 19, 2015 1:24 pm

I will definitely be doing a happy dance when they finally get the one on HWY6 opened. It will still be 31 miles to drive for me, but ever single Krispy Kreme crumb is worth it. So hurry up and OPEN OPEN OPEN.

  16. Jared June 19, 2015 2:09 pm

This 4 month, going on 5 month, delay really has me questioning whether the quality of food and service will be up to par with the KK that I love. If the holding company cannot manage permits or contractors, will they be able to manage employees and franchise regulations? With no updates from Krispy Kreme, what are we supposed to assume. I mean, even a simple – “we appreciate your patience as we build; we’re a few months past our deadline because of XXX, but we hope to open within the next N months. we’ll give you another update no later than 2 weeks from today”. That would go a long way in satisfying its future customers and avid fan base.

  17. Gerry June 20, 2015 9:35 am

Hmm, I was thinking of driving out to the Hwy 6 location today, but given the number of comments from yesterday, KK still isn’t open. As for the S. Main site, I drove through the intersection last weekend, and the only thing I see that might portend a KK is some site clearance just northwest of the interchange. The developer does seem to be challenged in his execution skills. Perhaps KK picked a poor partner for Houston — again.

  18. Jackie Mcknight June 21, 2015 9:18 pm

As a little girl I grew up on kk’s in Mobile, Alabama now a Houstonian I love the idea its coming back. I miss the red hot and ready donut sign of freshness and great tasting donuts. Currently I have been getting kk’s when I am in San Antonio, Austin, and San Marcos. Headed to Austin tomorrow taking orders anyone. I currently am 10 minutes away from the location and my family are patiently waiting. Hurry please!!!!

  19. Rossley June 23, 2015 8:33 pm

In front of the Target at 8605 Westheimer, there used to be an Arby’s. I think it’s starting to look a little Kripsy Kreme-ish.

  20. Feedme June 24, 2015 3:04 pm

I live in front that target. that ex Arby’s is looking like a kk for sure. I hope so..

  21. Rob June 25, 2015 7:40 am

That is going to be a KK. City permits issued to KK.

  22. Josue Barber June 27, 2015 12:27 pm

Hurry up kk we love u and need u.

  23. Kurt V Rich June 27, 2015 3:03 pm

Checked out the 8600 Westheimer location today. A reliable source told me this location should be open (as a Krispy Kreme) for business by late July (2015, of course). It will be interesting to see if they pull it off it off on time. Also did another drive today on S Main and saw nothing between Greenbriar and the the 610 Loop even remotely resembling a KK building.

    • Isiah Carey June 27, 2015 3:05 pm

Keep up the investigative reporting for us and report back

  24. Christopher July 1, 2015 3:24 pm

I wouldn’t be surprised if the bureaucracy slowing them down is tied to Shipleys, a friend of Shipleys, and that friend/connection slowing the process. I’ve seen construction teams build an entire mini strip mall from scratch in 6 month’s time in Katy. Just look at the Krogers going up on 1463. Pffft, So I know it’s not building crew part of it or KK. Hang in there KK and KK supporters. Regardless, this will CLEARLY have an economic impact on Houston in a good way and against all other competitors in the area. I remember when I lived in New Orleans and people mocked me when I mentioned us needing a KK with that bologna, oh in New Orleans, we don’t like chains and they don’t do well here, blah, blah..yeah Right. When they started opening up KK in the area. The lines have never stopped. Slowed down now..but never stopped. So, for whatever reason if Houston/connection is giving KK grief. This will blow up in your face as your only building greater anticipation and desire.

  25. Kurt V Rich July 2, 2015 7:29 am

I seriously doubt either Shi*leg’s or Diply Donuts would be foolish enough to try to impede KK’s openings in Houston. A lawsuit could cost them millions in liabilities. I think the delays are more likely due to ineptness and poor decision making inside the KK franchisee, Sun Holdings, LLC. i checked their Better Business rating: it leaves something to be desired. A single KK building and equipment is going to cost the franchisee around $425k plus an additional $160k or more for the property lease. KK’s corporate gets 4.5% of sales. Fingers crossed, we’ll see what the last week of July brings.

  26. chris July 3, 2015 7:36 pm

I am sick of this shit screw KK and their damn donuts. its been 2 years of hearing soon. They don’t even update their damn site. Fuck this shit I am going to austin and getting that 5 pound donut and I am going to eat it. Then I am going to throw the empty box on KK’s lot

  27. Kurt V Rich July 4, 2015 2:46 pm

Krispy Kreme in North Carolina isn’t to blame for the delayed opening(s) around Houston. The only thing you can blame their corporate office for is their sloppy handling of updated opening dates on their web site. They could have been considerably more on top of updating their posts. I’m sure KK knows too many people check their site. If I were pointing fingers, looking for someone to blame it would be the franchisee, Dulce Restaurants and their parent company Sun Holdings, LLC. They’re responsible for both the construction here in Houston as well as keeping KK’s corporate office apprised of their building progress. Since Dulce/Sun not doubt released opening dates and teaser info to the Houston Business Journal, the Chronicle and many others, they could have kept these sources updated as well. Sun/Dulce got everyone excited then they pulled the rug out from under us. This all falls under the proverbial Piss Poor Planning & Communications. As I said earlier Sun Holdings has mixed reviews with the Better Business Bureau. I just hope they don’t screw up the KK name and product. Now as for the writer’s 5 lb donut in Austin, if memory serves me correctly, I believe they’re served in Round Rock. Are you taking the Osmond family with you to eat that monster?

  28. chris July 5, 2015 6:40 pm

No I am going to eat all by myself then feel bad for about 30 minutes. Finally I will vomit it up all KK’s parking lot, right beside the box I so rudely littered there earlier.

Yeah I feel you KK is not the blame for the franchisee mistakes. But how many times is KK gonna chose ass wipe idiots to handle KK here in Houston. A trained monkey could get that first location open faster than this

  29. Phil July 6, 2015 12:29 am

There are confirmed reports that Krispy Kreme will be opening inside the Galleria! Hwy 6 location will not open until end of August.

  30. Kurt V Rich July 6, 2015 8:42 am

Galleria 1, 2 or Galleria 3? I can’t speak authoritatively but my experiences w/ KK have been that their stores, at least in the US, have always been free standing, never inside a mall. Any mall location carries with it a contractual obligation to abide by the mall’s very strict policies and procedures, including its hours of operation. The chain of La Madeline restaurants open all their restaurants around Houston at 7 am except for the Galleria 1 food court which opens at 8 am. This location also closes an hour earlier as well. A huge chunk of KK’s business is through its drive-in. If they’re inside a mall that rather substantial part of their revenue is totally lost. A Location inside the Galleria mall, if that is true, seems not the best of ideas. Rent inside the Galleria ain’t cheap. KK is going to have to sell a helluva lot of donuts to pay for it. To me this location has “future failure” stamped all over it. KK’s original location on Richmond at Fountainview about 10 years ago made much better sense and had a lot cheaper rent. It also had a drive in.
As for the KK Hwy 6 location, the place seems to be one continuing series of screw ups. Sun Holdings and Dulce Restaurants do NOT impress me. I have a bad feeling Dulce and Sun are about to muck up a really good product.

  31. Rob July 6, 2015 11:01 am

Drove by the KK on Hwy. 6. Unbelievable how long this process is taking. Sun Holdings should be embarrased beyond belief.

    • Isiah Carey July 6, 2015 11:03 am

I called corporate for answers thus morning

      • Rob July 7, 2015 10:12 am

I bet they said they’d call you back in 6-8 months.

        • Isiah Carey July 7, 2015 10:26 am

          They haven’t done even that

  32. chris July 6, 2015 1:50 pm

The galleria location will crush it, I don’t know if you are aware of this but 80 percent of the people who go to the galleria are idiots. They pay for parking, spend 30 minutes walking to their store and then find the item the wanted is sold out. Only the location at the galleria is sold every other store has tons of it.

People who go to the galleria for stores that have freestanding locations should be moved to Dallas. If you need more than one store sure I understand, if you need a store that’s only in the galleria of course. But these idiots who go to Mac or Sephora or gamespot and spend 5 hours wandering the mall like Moses looking for the land of milk and honey need to go away.

If I had money I would open up a kiosk selling maps of the galleria to people in the galleria. The idiots would pay me every single time they visit, you know why because their idiots. These are the same people who wait 3 hours in line at the Starbucks in galleria 2 when the one 100 yards away has no line what so ever. These are the same people who think buying something from the galleria makes it better.

  33. Chris sucks big cajones July 7, 2015 10:49 am

Talk about hatred towards people that have worked hard to have a little bit of money in the bank.

Chris – There is valet parking at the Galleria, but not everybody uses it. Just because you can’t shop there doesn’t mean people are idiots because they have a little more disposal income then you.

  34. chris July 7, 2015 12:04 pm

Think about what your saying, you are proving my point. What is there to buy that’s only at the galleria. You see you are one the people that think something is special because of where you bought it.

I see it all the time, I can’t tell you how many times I heard someone whine about not being able to grab the newest iphone. I tell them best buy has them, and they look at me like how dare I imply they go to best buy. They would rather wait 2 weeks and get the exact same phone from Apple at the galleria.

At what point did I say people can’t spend their money? At what point did I say I don’t have money?

I said people are idiots because they wait 3 hours in line for star bucks when there is another starbucks In the same mall 100 yards away. With no line same with godiva.

I said people who need to go to one single store and act like the galleria is the only location are idiots.

I clearly said if you are going to more than one store sure, if galleria really is the location sure.

I said the people who to one store buy their 4 dollar item then wander the mall like zombies are idiots.

Judging by your anger and hostility you relate to one or more those groups.

I apologize I was not meaning insult anyone with my broad rationalizations.

Please allow me to sell you a map of the galleria at half price.

  35. Kurt V Rich July 7, 2015 12:40 pm

Now that we have finished our flapping of wings and gums, I still don’t believe Dule Restaurants/Sun Holdings will be foolish enough to try to set up shop (literally) INSIDE the Galleria mall itself. Sales would have to be pheonmenal.of a amall and cheap single cover rent, supplies, salaries, construction costs as well as paying kK its parent percentage, all without drive through window service. I still feel Dulce/Sun will will pick a site outside of the Galleria proper where they can also have drive through window service. If anyone wants to knows for certain where they’re going to set up shop INSIDE the Galleria mall, I’d like you to share this info. I did write KK a very pointed note yesterday about the embarrassing delays going on here as well as KK’s failure to keep their web site updated; however I’m not holding my breath waiting for either a detailed response or an apology.

  36. Chris still sucks big cajones July 7, 2015 9:33 pm

I can show you a dark hole that you can shove that map of the galleria!

    • Isiah Carey July 7, 2015 9:50 pm

July 21 is the opening day

      • Kay July 8, 2015 9:43 am

How certain are you that it is July 21? We’ve heard so any different dates. I did however see this July date on Facebook….but that’s not always the most accurate!

  37. Kurt V Rich July 8, 2015 8:03 am

July 21 is opeming day at which location? Please be specific. Is it the 8600 block of Westheimer or…?

    • Kurt V Rich July 8, 2015 1:18 pm

If I could get Isiah to confirm the specific location, I believe it’s the KK bein built in front of Target in the 8600 block of Westheimer. When I stopped there during the last weekend in June they were predicting an opening in 3 1/2 weeks. I’m going back into Houston over the weekend and plan to stop again at the 8600 Westheimer location. So far, I’ve heard nothing from KK’s corporate office but I expected as much.

      • Isiah Carey July 8, 2015 2:37 pm

Sorry Kurt the Highway 6,location but that could all change I will include the email I got just today. Stand by

      • Isiah Carey July 8, 2015 2:37 pm

Isiah, apologies for the delayed response. I’ve been trying to get info on the opening date and have learned that while it is scheduled to open in the next few weeks, we don’t yet have an exact opening date. As soon as I know an exact date I will let you know. Thanks.

Thx Isiah! We are counting on you to get our donuts!

  39. chris July 9, 2015 3:08 am

Well I am sad to report my uncle had an emergency July 7th right after posting my previous message. I left right away to Dallas to see him. He was not too well the first day but the next day he awoke and wanted some doughnuts. I was glad to see him asking for anything so I of course obliged him.

I just want you guys to know the wait is worth it, I haven’t been to a krispy kreme in 7 years till yesterday. They have this one doughnut with cake batter filling. It was ahmazing

To the guy who seems to have a deep hatred of me because I made some generalizations about people.

Let it go, I had no idea anyone would identify with what I deemed idiots.

I am not being sarcastic or mean, I mean it. I never thought anyone would read my comment about idiots and, think how dare he attack the people who feel identical items hold more value when purchased at the galleria.

So forgive me I wish you the best life has to offer god bless my friend. Doughnuts on me if we ever cross paths

  40. Kurt V Rich July 9, 2015 5:55 am

In some people’s minds 2+2=5. You take a topic such as the Galleria and go off on a tangent, one totally irrelevant to our KK discussion. From the other and more germane comments posted it SEEMS both the Hwy 6 and 8600 Westheimer KK stores MAY be opening at or about the same time. I still plan to stop by the 8600 Westheimer location on Saturday. Hopefully they’ll have a firm opening date this time. Late yesterday I coincidentally forwarded my KK email to D Carr, KK’s corporate media guy, asking him for both dates (approximate, of course) and locations of Houston area stores which would open between now and the end of September. Given Carr’s “non-response response” posted above, I’m not overly optimistic he’ll be forthcoming in answering me. I did let him know the good folks in Houston are getting PO’d with both non-information and the delays. Truth be told, we should be pestering Dulce/Sun for dates. They’re the ones who really know. The best KK donut I’ve ever had was their Key Lime donut about 3 years ago. Bloody awesome! Their chocolate chip donut last year was very good but messy to eat while driving. Next year I hope KK will bring back the Key Lime donut.

  41. Kia July 9, 2015 10:48 pm

so is there a krispy kreme in business in houston yet? I’m confused!

I’m gonna buy a dozen and then take advantage of you birthday special to get the second dozen for $0.78!

    Happy day!!!

Let’s see……. I’m in Houston…. Where is your closest location?

  43. monie July 10, 2015 11:14 am

Still waiting! I know i need to stay away.
I’ve been tracking this for months and really just disappointed.

    • Rob July 10, 2015 12:13 pm

      hahahahahahahah…closest location is in Austin.

  44. Anonymous July 10, 2015 11:23 pm

I just went to the h6 location. The words are up, there is trash and buckets at the back of the building, and no landscaping. The inside is full of stuff, couldn’t make it all out but I saw a lot of ladders. I don’t know what all that means but that’s the status. There’s also a big trailer in the parking lot.

    • Anonymous July 10, 2015 11:26 pm

Sorry, words up meaning the Krispy Kreme sign is up.

  45. Patrick July 11, 2015 10:20 am

What a poorly updated process this has been. The KK website lists the Highway 6 location’s address as if it’s open, then the other location in our area lists “June TBD”. It is now middle of July. Even if some beaurocracy(?) was created to give them difficulty, the least we could get is accurate updates from the franchisee. Moved here in 2005 and I don’t see how or why people love Shipleys. Their donuts don’t last you 3 hours before they start to look like they got sprayed by a water fountain.

  46. Kurt V Rich July 11, 2015 1:05 pm

Just came back from my run into SW Houston. Arrrrgh…how annoying! Stopped by the 8600 Westheimer location and found the same source who told me 2 weeks ago the location would be opening in 3 1/2 weeks. The same source now told me it will be open “some time next month.” No definite date, just “some time next month.” I’m honestly beginning to believe these people don’t know what the (expletive deleted) they’re doing. I made a couple of photos of the building. If I could post them here, I would. Sidewalks aren’t poured, and front windows are papered over. The KK sign isn’t up. The entire outer shell is rough and unfinished. An educated guess is it’s 60-75% finished. I asked about the Hwy 6 location to see if they would confirm the July 21st opening date. “i don’t know. I don’t keep track of other sites.” So many (expletive deleted) delays.
As of today’s e-mail I’ve yet to hear from D Carr in KK’s corporate office. All I asked was to be given the addresses and anticipated dates for metro Houston locations opening between now and the end of September. I also gave Carr a less-than-subtle nudge about how ludicrous KK’s Grand Openings website looks since we’re nearly 2 weeks into july.
I did drive back down S Main to Loop 610 looking for the mysterious KK site to be built there. As I drove past the Golden Corral parking lot on the south side of the loop I noticed a pile of dirt in their parking lot, something I saw 2 weeks ago. The. i assumed the broken concrete in the lot was being replaced. The Houston Business Journal, if memory serves me correctly, said KK was planning a site near the Golden Corral there. Today I noticed base boards were up as if someone’s about to set a foundation. Having eaten at this Golden Corral site numerous times in the past few years, I remembered this GC is a franchise and owned/managed by Hispanics. Inasmuch as Dulce Restaurants/Sun Holdings is an Hispanic owned company, it became clear to me that thie pile of dirt in GC’s parking lot MAY be the beginning of a future KK. We’ll see if my guess is correct. If the GC is owned/managed by Dulce/Sun, I sincerely hope they have more respect for the KK products.. This GC location is only two steps above pure (expletive deleted).
As for a helpful response from D Carr about future kK openings in the next 75 days, I’m NOT holding my breath.

  47. Anthony Thompson July 11, 2015 3:32 pm

I can picture Isiah Carey outside of the Hwy 6 location awaiting for it’s grand opening salivating at the thought of biting into one of those fresh hot plain donuts straight off of the assembly line and then all of a sudden a fly lands in his mouth and he states “”dyin’ in this f**in’ country-ass, f***ed up town.”

  48. Phil July 11, 2015 3:43 pm

The Krispy Kreme location at the Galleria is being built in the extension of the Galleria portion and somehow some way “YES” it will have a drive-thru. Not sure how they are planning on doing it. A friend of mine, Carl Lee, who’s on the Board of Directors confirmed this for me. The Galleria charges rent based on revenues so they are not worried.

    • Kurt V Rich July 11, 2015 6:58 pm

I’ve asked this question of others before here, is the location in Galleria 1, Galleria 2 or Galleria 3? What’s the state of completion and is there a projected opening date?

I don’t even see a conflict here, I made what I thought was a funny comment about how people today think. The comment was about the fact that people would rather suffer and spend more time and money, simply for the PRESTIGE of saying it came from the galleria.

I never thought anyone would find that offensive, Kurt you said I twisted something into a rant which was not the case.

My point was that a KK location in the galleria would do very well. Because people would be ignorant enough, to believe that somehow the galleria location did something special.

Somehow through no fault of KK people would begin saying things like “oh I only eat KK from the Gal”, and “oh have you tried KK at gal its kills the other 400 KKs in existence”

I have a cousin who believes Cartier bought from the Cartier store outside the galleria is not the same quality as the stuff he used to buy in the galleria.

It’s an absurd and stupid thought process of many people I have encountered.

Sorry, señor, you have had no rants or kriticisms from me. I’m here solely to get info about KK and their irritating, agonisingly slow non-openings around Houston. What you guys say to or about each other or about Galleria shopping is of no concern or interest to me. To borrow a phrase, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t…” Well, you know.

    Lol, you cats are clowns.

But anyways, my bad, Kurt. I should’ve gaVe an update on the 8600 west location last night as well. I could have saved you the trip. However, the 8600 location’s completion seemed so far behind the 5603 h6 location that I didn’t even worry about giving the update.

On a different note, Kurt, Chris, and Chris Cajones are we meeting up for this grand opening or what? Lol

When someone on site tells me with an air of confidence they’ll open in 3 1/2 weeks I’m inclined to believe them, at least the first time. Three and a half weeks woulda made their opening also around 21-25 July and logical for two KK stores in the same city to open in the same week. For me to be told in essence , “When we’re ready we’ll open,” as I was yesterday is more than annoying. Opening day ceremonies at a KK have been described as a total zoo. Traffic around the KK on Westheimer near Dairy Ashford 12-14 years ago was a nightmare. As I get progressively older I’ve come to hate both lines and waiting in lines to spend my money. I may wait until later in the day or go a day or two later. I had my KK fix 2x last year. Now, if KK were to revive its Key Lime donut…

Lol. I’ve been a kkreme fan for years, and I haven’t ever had the urge to try anything except for the original glaze. I will take you guys comments as a hint to try something else which I will do if they ever open.

I was joking about the grand opening. I’m not ever camping out for anything. I refuse, not sure why.

  54. chris July 12, 2015 5:23 pm

I will gladly meet up and buy the first round of milk and doughnuts but, not opening day. I have no interest in seeing a bunch of crazies lined up over night to get a free dozen doughnuts once a month. My wife made me wait in line when sprinkles reopened to include ice cream. I was in that line for 2 hours I pass on repeating that ever again.

7 days until we find out if the, July 21st, date is for real or not.

    • Rob July 14, 2015 12:46 pm

Not gonna happen by the 21st. 2 weeks ago it wasn’t anywhere near finished and they still have to train staff. Maybe by August 21st.
(hope I’m wrong, but don’t think I am.)

  56. Kurt V Rich July 14, 2015 11:20 am

If it’s going to happen I’m sure the media will alert us a few days before. The Hwy 6 location is beginning to pop up when I google Krispy Kreme Houston. However, it’s 43 miles away and not on my list for a daily drive-by. Not surprisingly, D Carr at KK’s office in NC hasn’t deigned to answer my e-mail about Houston area openings between now and the end of Sept. And no one’s updated KK’s website either. I wish I could run a business with indifference and crappy service like that.

  57. Chris now just sucks really really small cajones July 15, 2015 8:49 pm

I’m down to meet up for the Gand opening! I’ll even take a vacation day for it!

  58. Anonymous July 16, 2015 12:08 am

Someone just told me the date as official been moved again, have u guys heard this

  59. Kurt V Rich July 16, 2015 5:54 am

I’m curious if you have a “set” re-re-re-revised date for the opening of the KK on Hwy 6? When all the dust settles it seems this will be the first of the Dulce/Sun KK franchises to open , however long that may take. I’ve still not heard from Daryl Carr at KK’s corporate office about my e-mail asking for locations and tentative opening dates between now and the end of September. Yesterday I shot Carr a second e-mail asking for the common courtesy of a respknse. I’m not holding my breath, however. I found out that Anthony (Tony) Thompson is CEO of KK. Using the format for Carr’s e-mail address I forwarded my notes to Carr to Thompson. Of course there was no response, but I noticed KK’s Grand Openings web site which had carried projected opening for June was finally updated about 3 hours later. Only the Hwy 6 site remains listed but with NO opening date. If I had the e-mail address for the corporate officers at Dulce/Sun in Dallas, I’d gladly share my frustrations and our displeasure at their continuing delays. Dulce/Sun is the one overwhelmingly responsible for the delays and media debacle. Dulce/Sun is now pushing the opening back once again, this time into August. I just hope CEO Tony Thompson conveys my disappointment to the Dulce/Sun people.
As for the issue of (extra) time needed to train staff, my guess is Dulce/Sun has a KK site in the Dallas area which serves as its training centre. Houston new hires are most probably flown to Dallas and undergo an intense KK corporate approved 1-2 week training there, then have a further 4-7 days of “hands on” at their own KK before it opens.
