The City of Houston has activated the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the Houston Emergency Center (HEC) to Level 1 to coordinate the emergency response due to the severe flooding impacting the City of Houston. Level 1 is the highest in a four-tier level of EOC activation. The last time the City of Houston was activated to Level 1 was during Hurricane Ike in 2008.
In addition, the City is delaying non-emergency City services and some employee start times by 2 hours today.

Some Municipal Court Cases Canceled/Delayed

Individuals who are are set for court today between 8:00am and 4:00pm will have until Friday, May 29th at 9:00pm to come in to the court and reset their cases.
People with cases from 4:00pm until 9:00pm should call 311 or visit houstontx.gov/emergency after 12:00pm for information on whether or not their case will be reset.
Other Non-Emergency City Services
All other non-emergency City services are delayed by 2 hours today.
This includes the Houston Permitting Center, which will be delaying opening until 10:00am.
Non-Essential City Employees (Tier II and III) should report on a 2-hour delay from their normal start time.
Essential Employees (Tier I) are required to report to work as normal.
If it is unsafe for employees to report to work, they should contact their supervisor to make alternative arrangements.
