In this day and age you have to be careful just who you offend.  Apparently, the writers and producers of the hit movie Ted 2 have offended African Americans who are afflicted with sickle cell anemia.  In fact, one woman in Houston wrote me and says she’s part of a letter writing campaign to the creator of Ted – Seth McFarland.  Here is her note to the Factor:

The Ted2 movie apparently has a derogatory line in it that horribly references Sickle Cell disease. There is some awareness from online SC communities, but I want to do my part in spreading this information. I have attached images of the exact Ted2 quote and addresses of a few of the movie’s producers. The goal is to simply write letters to the producers expressing the racism and lack of sensitivity to a disease that literally kills people of ALL races everyday. We are being asked to mail letters next week in red envelopes. The social media hashtags are: #redlettercampaign and #rejectTED2.

I hand-selected people I felt may be interested in this and take some action. Please write a red envelope letter and pass this information along.

Thank you,

36 yr old Sickle Cell Warrior & mother

If anyone should be offended it should be the Kardashians ,but even they can take a joke. But unfortunately there will be those that think the world revolves around their belly button and have to gain attention by making an outcry. I find people that go to Ted movies and complain about Seth MacFarlands humor offensive. So I want apology letters ASAP now! Its time to pull up the big girl panties folks before we start sterilizing everything society to the point that there is nothing that anyone says or does that cannot be found offensive.

I just want to know if any of these people who think that that the lines about sickle cell disease in this movie is funny and not racist know anyone with sickle cell disease or have ever seen anyone who is is in a pain crisis because of the disease. They are no better than those people who say that sickle cell disease was given to black people because they are cursed by God. My grandson suffers from the disease and is waiting to undergo a stem cell replacement to try to cure the disease. Can you imagine how he feels hearing such filth? Probably not because you have shown no compassion for people who are impacted by something that they have no control over or when there is no remedy for them except extreme measures. The last thing you should want to do is to make fun of them in any way. They have more heart and strength then you will ever know. One last thing, Charlie Wilson, I hope you are not the Charlie Wilson of Uncle Charlie Fame. My grandson loves your music but both he and I will be stepping away from it.
