  2. J. Daniels August 27, 2015 5:46 pm

I am Voting NO to the name change of University Drive! Leave it alone!

  3. Vince August 27, 2015 5:46 pm

    Take her name down.,

  4. Anonymous August 27, 2015 5:47 pm

Its stupid to rename a street after a person who disrepected the law like she did

  5. Anonymous August 27, 2015 5:50 pm

No name changing of University Drive!

  6. Sharon Thorpe August 27, 2015 5:50 pm

University Drive should remain University Drive!
*Why would people want to draw attention to a mentally ill individual that could not deal with life.
Cooping with life is difficult enough. Why set the a dreadful example like this for the mentally ill?

  7. Anony August 27, 2015 5:51 pm

No way you should name a street after someone with a long criminal record. Absurd idea, City Council of PV!

    • Nita August 27, 2015 10:02 pm

Name streets after criminals???? It’s done all the time. And she was not a criminal.

      • Anony August 28, 2015 6:12 pm

She certainly was a criminal. Check her record. Numerous offenses, numerous unpaid fines. She had done nothing in her life to merit naming a street after her.

  8. Teresa Kelley August 27, 2015 6:01 pm

Do no change the name to Sandra Bland! Chan it to a Veteran,

  9. Geneva August 27, 2015 6:02 pm

This is ridiculous! Don’t name a street after someone who took their own life and had many arrests due to not following the law.

  10. Lorena August 27, 2015 6:48 pm

She doesn’t deserve it. How about naming streets after true heroes and people who gave service to our community!

  11. Mrs. Harris August 27, 2015 9:36 pm

I love the idea of them changing the name of the main Street to remember Sandra Bland. #SandySpeaks

  12. Nita August 27, 2015 10:06 pm

You know, at first I was skeptical about them changing the name of the drive. But after reading all of these horrible comments spoken by what is evidently racist whites, I say, “Go on PV. Make them remember each time they drive it, walk it, or even hear it on the news!” #sayhername #Sandyspeaks #BlackLivesMatter

    • LeeAnn August 28, 2015 6:10 pm

She is a criminal who has done nothing to earn that honor. They should vote no, they shouldn’t have to remember a suicidal criminal..

    • Anony August 28, 2015 6:19 pm

FYI, I am not a racist white.

  13. Anonymous August 27, 2015 10:43 pm

The above comments are from black folk.

  14. karol August 28, 2015 8:27 am

A great big NO to the name change !!!!! Not ONLY did
she break the law but even ran up thousands of dollars in fines in more than one state. I wish she had not killed’ her self and faced her situation head on. But instead she takes this path. Now the family wants to know, Why OTHER PEOPLE DID NOT SAVE HER . WHERE WERE THEY? Even the bondsman could not help. WHY? COULD IT BE THAT SHE HAD SO MANY FAIL TO APPEARS AND ALL THOSE FINES?
Her family AND friends were not there but praise be
    the LORD was

  15. Pedro August 28, 2015 10:31 am

What did this young lady do? Nothing she gave the trooper an attitude, was being dumb when all she had to do was put the cigarette out or down temporary and get her warning and be on her way. She killed herself and that doesn’t deserve a street name change. How about we change names of streets for every service member that has died in Iraq or Afghanistan at the hands of the enemy. At least they died for a cause and gave their life for a reason greater then themselves.

    • Steve August 29, 2015 11:32 pm

You nailed it. Have these people that are for it not seen the arrest video. She was a smartass to the cop and it doesn’t matter your color, if you are disrespectful to the law officer, you shall be arrested. I have seen examples of when the law goes too far, this was not the case. She should have listened and been grateful for just a warning. It is tragic that she chose to take her life, but we should not change road names for this situation.

  16. Lyndsay Rain Torn August 28, 2015 6:00 pm

No. She is not deserving of having a street named after her. She gave the trooper attitude, caused her own arrest, had a history of mental instability. I believe she committed suicide. She had used illegal marijuana and was in jail. Quit rewarding bad behavior.

  17. LeeAnn August 28, 2015 6:08 pm

They should not change the name. She has done nothing to deserve that. And people who ask and look her up will find that she had done nothing but assult and be a loud mouth to police then commit suicide. SHE DOES NOT DESERVE THIS. more important people should be given that honor not her.

  18. anthony August 31, 2015 11:16 am

You are all ridiculous and totally inappropriate to take an honor away from someone who was murdered. Christopher Columbus did nothing but you have a holiday. Assholes

  19. G. Jackson August 31, 2015 2:35 pm

NO! Not worthy of a street name, too many bad habits and disrespectful to the law. NOT a law abiding citizen according to her records.

  20. Jay P September 1, 2015 7:43 am

I’m an alum of PVAMU and I want to first say RIP to Sandra Bland and condolences to her family. What happen to her was tragic but naming a street after her that has decades of history is a little much. We want to keep our legacy and history of University Blvd. The City Council should have presented additional options other than changing the name of University Blvd. A monument, an official “Sandra Bland” day to bring awareness, and/or a criminal justice scholarship etc. are all ways to commemorate Sandra Bland. No one is disputing bringing attention to this tragic situation but there are other ways.
