The Houston Police Department finally reveals its body camera policy.

HPD’s leaders are meeting with members of the Houston City Council to lay out the program this morning.

Chief Tim Oettmeier says the videos will be made available to the public under open records but the public must be specific in their requests.

If they ask for copies of videos they must provide parties involved, date, time, and location. Officers will also have lots of discretion when it comes to activating the camera in the field.

Some Houston Council Members also take issue with officers having the ability to decide which videos of relevant as evidence in a case.
