Councilman Jonathan Miller (gray shorts) after being released from the Waller County jail

Chief Larry Johnson of the Prairie View Police Department has released the body camera video involving the arrest of City Councilman Jonathan Miller.

Miller’s arrest went viral after he was seen being tased on video by one of two police officers Thursday night in the small college town.

Miller maintains the officers used excessive force when he questioned them why the they asked his fraternity brothers for their identification during a stop at his Hargest Drive home this week.

Miller was jailed overnight after being charged with interfering with police and resisting arrest.

The 26 year old, who’s also a Waller County teacher, was released on his own recognizance Friday morning.

The police body camera video was released early Saturday morning by the police department.

Excessive force was used. From my opinion, Miller was standing in an unagressive manner and the use of a taser was unnecessary to “control” the situation. “Officer” Goodie seemed to be out of control and playing the agressive role. Yet another reason why citizens are very distrustful of law enforcement, their use of unnecessary means and hiding behind bogus charges is getting old….and will not be tolerated.

Wowwww and you can’t really see him resisting arrest. What I see is a lot of trees and I only hear audio. Soooooooooo when did Prairie View get body cams, and why didn’t they have them for Sandra Bland

So just wandering why he didn’t comply with the request to put his hands behind his back. When an officer asks you to comply you do so, not a time for protest, especially when you are warned that you will be tazed for resisting. Had he complied and been arrested then i would back him completely in the situation. However, his demeanor surely needs work. Nobody is above the law. Imagine how effective this situation could have been if he would have been in the right all along… like i said i’d completely support him with any claims of improper police harassment of his friends… but now its a case of an uppity, above the law, non compliant individual.
