Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 7800 West Airport Boulevard #714 about 1 p.m. on December 4.
The suspects, Brandon Dontae Dace (b/m, 22) and Daylon Henderson (b/m, 22), are charged with manslaughter and tampering/fabricating evidence, respectively, in the 339th State District Court. Both men are accused for their roles in the death of Trevon Deandre Vann, 23, of the above address.
Photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and Senior Police Officer M. Waters II reported:
Mr. Vann, his roommate and two other friends were at Vann’s apartment when a gunshot was fired. The friends initially provided vague information about what occurred and then became uncooperative in the investigation.
Another witness reported hearing a gunshot and a scream. The witness saw a black male get into a maroon compact car parked in front of Vann’s apartment and flee the scene. A short time later, two black males were seen carrying Vann and putting him into a silver Saturn, with a third black male as its driver. The three males were Vann’s friends in the apartment. They were driving Vann to Ben Taub General Hospital when they met up with an ambulance, which then drove Vann to the hospital where he died.
Further investigation and information obtained from witnesses identified Dace and Henderson as the suspects in this case. Both were arrested last Friday (December 11) and admitted to investigators their roles in Vann’s death.
