On Wednesday, December 16th, 2015 at 9:25 pm the Cleveland Police Department was alerted that a shooting had occurred in the Exxon convenience store located at 1030 FM 2025.
Cleveland Police Officers arrived on scene to discover two store clerks on the floor behind the front counter. One of the clerks was bleeding from the chest due to a gunshot wound as the other clerk attempted to assist their co-worker.
Officers secured the scene as first aid was administered to the shooting victim. The victim was later treated by EMS and transported to a Houston area hospital via air ambulance. While being treated at the hospital, the victim succumbed to the gunshot wound.
The Cleveland Police Department’s preliminary investigation finds three light skinned male actors (White or Hispanic) entered the business shortly before 9:25pm. The actors wore bandana’s covering their faces. Upon entering the store one of the actors pointed a dark in color semi-auto pistol at one of the store clerks who was standing next to the cash register. A verbal exchange took place and the actor shot the clerk in the chest.
The second actor reached across the counter to retrieve money as the third actor ran behind the counter to retrieve the rest of the money. The actors then fled the building, running east, next to Baldwin Park.
“This was cold blooded murder. The clerk did not attempt to fight/resist the shooter. There was no reason whatsoever to shoot this innocent person.”
Cleveland PD Detectives and Officers are actively working the homicide scene. The store and surrounding area is still being treated as an active crime scene as evidence is being gathered.
We are being assisted in our investigation by the Texas Rangers, Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables Office and the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office. Liberty County EMS provided the use of their search and rescue dog. The Texas Department of Public Safety also provided an air unit to assist with a search of the surrounding area.
“With the assistance of our partner agencies and assistance from our citizens, we feel confident these murders will be brought to justice.”
Images of the suspects were recovered and are being released to the public (see attached).
