The indictment of a Prairie View police officer has put the city’s six man department under some strain.
PVPD Chief Larry Johnson says since officer Michael Kelley is being charged this week with official oppression he had to place him on unpaid leave.
That has left Kelley’s position open and only five officers on patrol in the city.
This comes after officer Kelley tasered and arrested PV City Councilman Jonathan Miller back in October 2015.
He says he will likely have to rely on overtime to insure there are enough officers on the streets of Prairie View.
