On Thursday, February 18, 2016, at approximately 3:30 PM, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to a residence, in reference to a disturbance, in the 18200 block of Old Houston Road, in Conroe, Texas.
Upon deputies’ arrival, it was discovered that there was an altercation between two subjects over custody of children and division of property. Deputies were advised by one of the parties that there was a tractor and other equipment on the property that were believed to be stolen. When deputies requested permission to look at the reported stolen equipment, the other individual involved in the altercation advised that the equipment belong to him and denied their request.
Detectives with the Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force responded to the location. Detectives contacted the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and were able to secure a search warrant for the location. During the execution of the search warrant, a 2013 John Deere Tractor with a front end loader and roto tiller, a 2014 John Deere 4×4 side by side utility vehicle, a 2013 John Deere diesel front mower, a 2012 Top Hat utility trailer, and the remains of a 2010 Chevy Malibu were discovered at the location. All of the vehicles were confirmed as stolen and recovered. The approximate value of the vehicle are $78,000.
As a result of the investigation, Roberto Tamayo, Jr., (date of birth 06/19/1978), was arrested and charged with felony theft of property. The vehicles that were discovered on the property were reported stolen out of Liberty and Harris Counties. Detectives have discovered there were several other pieces of equipment that were stolen with the discovered equipment that have not been accounted for.
