ROUND ONE GOES TO THE HOUSTON FORENSIC SCIENCE CENTER!

If you didn’t know there has been a very public battle to gain control of the officers who collect evidence on the scene of crimes in Houston.

Those officers are a part of the Crime Scene Unit.

For years that group was under the Houston Police Department but after ongoing problems with HPD’s Crime Lab the unit was transferred.

CSU has since been under the newly created Houston Forensic Science Center.

But HPD acting Chief Martha Monltavo made it clear she wanted CSU back in her department.

However, city leaders confirm to officials at the Forensic Science Center that the evidence collecting unit will remain under their jurisdiction for now.

That’s bad news for HPD’s brass and members of the Houston Police Officers’ Union who say CSU should be at HPD.
