FACTOR EXCLUSIVE: ATHLETIC PROGRAMS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK AT SAN JACINTO COLLEGE!

The Factor has learned the future of sports could be on the chopping block at San Jacinto College.
We’ve obtained an email from the school’s Chancellor to the employees saying the Board of Trustees will have a major vote on November 7, 2016.

They will decide if they will discontinue the college’s men’s and women’s basketball program along with the men’s soccer and women’s volleyball program.
In a statement to the Factor the school said the school must stay true to its mission of focusing on the students and their success.

A spokesperson said the sports programs have been just too expensive and is unsustainable.

If the board votes to end sports that will take place in May 2018.

Full Statement from San Jacinto College:

The San Jacinto College Board of Trustees will vote onMonday, November 7, whether or not to discontinue operating competitive athletics in four sports – men’s and women’s basketball, men’s soccer, and women’s volleyball – effective May 2018. The Board has determined that the priority for the College needs to stay true to its mission around student success and we must focus our resources on the entire student population’s educational goals and to insure the greatest positive impact on our entire student population.  Sustainability of athletics operating costs and the required facilities needs have increased to a level that is no longer sustainable. Should the vote pass, we will honor our commitments to our current and incoming student-athletes. We will also work with our coaches and related athletic staff to discuss their future plans and transitional opportunities that will meet the needs of our broader student population.

WILL RUSTY HARDIN SAVE DEVON ANDERSON’S JOB?

Rusty Hardin will hold a press conference in his offices at 2pm today.

Mr. Hardin intends to release emails that show that the ads attacking Devon Anderson and featuring the mother of the victim held on a material witness bond are incredibly misleading. The ads fail to account for the prosecutor’s desperate attempt to find someone to safely take custody of the young woman. The ads do not explain that this happened because the victim’s mother kicked her daughter out of her home and refused to let her live with her during the pendency of the trial.

The emails will show that the prosecutor was certain that a serial rapist was going to rape again.  The mother is now suing this prosecutor, the Harris County’s DA’s office, and attacking Devon Anderson in a partisan political ad. But the mother could have easily prevented her daughter’s unfortunate travail by heeding the prosecutor’s request that she let her daughter stay with her during the trial.

House where sexual assault allegedly took place

An arrest warrant has been put out for a Spring man who investigators say sexually assaulted a young girl his son once fancied in elementary school.

Harris County court records show once in custody 37 year old Derwin Demonise Toliver will be charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child under 17 years old.

According to the probable cause Toliver’s son once tried to date the now 15 year old female when she was in the fifth grade.
But that young girl’s parents told Toliver to keep his son away from their daughter.

However, investigators say Toliver later started texting and meeting the young girl on her bus stop while bringing her breakfast.

Harris County deputies say he eventually took her to his home on Brookgate Drive where he sexually assaulted her.

A warrant has been issued for Toliver’s arrest by the Harris County Sheriff’s office!
