On Sunday, December 26, 2016, at approximately 3:40 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery
County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to a reported shooting that had occurred at a residence in the 29400 block of Aberdeen Road, in Magnolia, Texas.
Upon Deputies arrival, it was discovered that a 20 year old male, identified as Oscar Salazar, had been shot at the location. Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned to the location, who attempted life saving measures, but were unsuccessful. Mr. Salazar was pronounced deceased at the location.
Shots were heard from the room a short time later and Mr. Segovia-Amaya was then witnessed exiting from the room. Reportedly Mr. Segovia-Amaya then pointed a handgun at other occupants of the residence before exiting. Mr. Segovia-Amaya was then witnessed exiting the property in a vehicle.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, and representatives with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene. A description of the suspect and suspect vehicle was aired over the radio.
A Department of Public Safety Trooper was able to locate the suspect and suspect vehicle near FM 1488 and Interstate 45. The suspect and suspect vehicle was stopped nearby and the suspect identified. Investigators were able to proceed to that location and continue an investigation. After the initial investigation, the suspect, Nelson M. Segovia-Amaya, was arrested and charged with the murder of his step-brother Oscar Salazar.
