It may be a band-aid but it’s a start for public safety for the city of Houston.
The Houston Police Department will soon have more than 60 new police officers on the streets.
This comes as Class #228 will graduate 66 cadets who have successfully completed the police academy.
These new officers will be needed as HPD faces loosing veteran officers who are eligible to retire or those who could leave because of the changes to the city’s pension plan.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Police Chief Art Acevedo will take part in the graduation.
