HOUSTON MAYOR RELEASES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR POLICE REFORMS!

The Mayor’s Task Force on Policing Reform today released a highly anticipated 153-page report with a list of recommendations proposed by the 45 member citizen group.

LINK FOR FULL REPORT!

Led by Chairman Larry Payne, the task force spent months listening to Houstonians and organizations about the type and kind of police department they desire and demand. The task force engaged in extensive research on issues and best practices around the country and received more than 7,000 responses from a community survey.

“In the events of recent months, it is clear in Houston and across the nation that our community, mayor, city council, police chief, officers, and the union must all work together to protect and serve the constitutional rights of all citizens,” Chairman Payne wrote in the report’s introduction.

The recommendations are divided into six categories: Community Policing, Independent Oversight, Power dynamics, Crisis Intervention, Field Readiness, and Clear Expectations.

“We have worked hard on this being a document that is not going to sit on a shelf. It has actionable items that can be implemented,” Payne said. “We are also going to stay committed to the mayor. As a task force, we are not going away.”

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS FOUND HIDDEN IN FURNITURE!

Customs officers at a Florida airport found nearly a half-million dollars being smuggled out of the United States hidden inside furniture, officials said.

U.S. Custom and Border Protection officers at Miami International Airport seized $491,280 in unreported U.S. currency last Thursday, the agency said in a news release.

The money had been concealed inside a chair placed in a crate with other furniture.

The shipment was heading to the Dominican Republic and was selected for examination during outbound enforcement operations, officials said.

“Criminal organizations will attempt to export large sums of cash to launder their ill-gotten gains,” said Robert Del Toro, the agency’s acting port director.

Officials didn’t say who the money belonged to or whether criminal charges would be filed.

Travelers bringing more than $10,000 out of the U.S. must report it to customs officials. Failing to do so can lead to the money’s seizure and forfeiture, as well as potential criminal charges, officials said.

8 MEN ARRESTED FOR RAPING A 16 YEAR OLD GIRL AND PART OF IT WAS SHARED ON FACEBOOK!

Eight men are facing felony charges for allegedly sexually assaulting an unconscious 16-year-old girl during a party last December, with a portion of the rape being recorded on video and then shared on Facebook.

Police in Providence held a press conference on Wednesday morning and announced the arrests of seven of the suspects, identified as Richard Tarell Chester, 20, of Massachussetts; Luis Cabrera, 19; Jose Vargas, 19; Erving Keith Colon, 25; Malcom Baptista, 19; Luis Luna, 19, and Carlos Chicon, 20, all of Providence.

An eighth suspect, Carlos Vasquez, 19, of Providence, remains at large and is being sought by police.

Chester, who was allegedly seen in the video raping the teenager, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault on a person who was mentally incapacitated and conspiracy.

The other seven men have been arraigned on charges of assault with intent to commit first-degree sexual assault on a person who was mentally incapacitated, and conspiracy.

Providence Police Chief Hugh Clements Jr described the case as ‘horrifying, devastating, disturbing’ during a press conference on Wednesday announcing the arrests

According to court documents obtained by the Boston Globe, the girl was alone with Chester, who then ordered her to leave.

When she retrieved her phone, she discovered that someone had used the device to send mocking messages to her ex-boyfriend, saying that she was sexually assaulted by multiple men while she was unconscious.

‘Not only did they criminally and viciously assault her, but completely violated her in so many inhumane ways,’ Clements said.

During interviews with investigators, the teen remembered a man holding her down on a bed and pouring Hennessy brandy down her throat during a house party where she was brought by two people she knew, according to the records.

She also recalled waking up naked in a shower surrounded by 15 men who were laughing and possibly photographing her.

The girl and her family filed a police report later that day, but it was not until June 2020 that the investigation kicked into high gear thanks to the discovery of a video recording on Facebook depicting a portion of the sexual assault.

The footage, described by Police Major David Lapatin as ‘sickening,’ reportedly depicted the unconscious 16-year-old being sexually assaulted on a bed by multiple men while others stood by and watched.

The victim’s mother recorded the video off Facebook and brought it to the detectives, who used it to identify the men in the footage and obtain warrants for their arrests, which were executed last week in Providence.

WHY PARENTS HAVE TO MONITOR THEIR CHILDREN!

BATON ROUGE, La. – Deputies have arrested a 25-year-old Baton Rouge man for allegedly raping a minor.

According to arrest reports, Jonathan Reid Dejean, 25, allegedly paid for a driver to pick up himself and a 12-year-old he met on social media and bring her to his house where they had sex.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office says they were first made aware of the incident on the morning of Aug. 12. Deputies say the child’s mother went to check on her before school. When she didn’t find her daughter in her bedroom, the report says the girl’s mother used an app to track her location and found her walking down the street.

During an interview, deputies say the girl explained that Dejean had convinced her to sneak out twice, on or about Aug. 11 and 12. On both occasions, the girl told investigators Dejean showed up in the vicinity of her house in a Lyft and rode with her back to his house and had sex with her.

The victim told deputies she believed Dejean was 19 years old. She was taken to a hospital for a sexual assault exam.

Dejean was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on two counts of first-degree rape and two counts of aggravated kidnapping.
