The streaming service Netflix is under fire for what some call sexualizing little girls.
This comes as the company prepares to release a French award winning movie called Cuties in September.
The movie follows one young girl from Senegal who breaks from family tradition to pursue a position on a dance / twerk group.
However, many have taken to social media with petitions and to complain how Netflix marketed the movie.
Some say the movie poster comes across as sexual while the description of the movie is under fire as well.
Netflix issued an apology acknowledging the controversy and their error:
We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description.— Netflix (@netflix) August 20, 2020
